The 2017 Academy Awards ended in drama after Warren Beatty mistakenly presented La La Land with the Academy Award for Best Picture. It wasn't until after La La Land's producers took the stage until Oscar producers informed the audience of the mistake and announced the actual winner, Moonlight. Beatty subsequently explained that he mistakenly announced La La Land as the winner after seeing Emma Stone's name on the card. This is a developing story.

Rossini, Mozart, Strauss, Celine Dion, Streisand and Sinatra - the Irish mezzo embraces it all, alongside a soft spot for power ballads What was the first record or cd you bought? A cassette tape of Celine Dion. I knew every single word! We travelled a lot in the car where my parents' choices were more Simon & Garfunkel, Neil Diamond and hits from the 1960s. My siblings and I would fight over who would sing the solo and who would take the backing vocals. Continue reading...
The Hot Boys reunited last night in their hometown New Orleans at the BeatsXNOLA event hosted by LeBron James for All-Star weekend. Lil Wayne, Juvenile, Mannie Fresh, and Turk took the stage together for the first time since Wayne's 2015 Lil Weezyana Festival. âI don't know if these people fully appreciate what's going on tonight,â James said. âWe got muthafuckin' Hot Boys in this muthafucka right now. I got to make sure-because this is my party-I got to make sure people fully understand what's going on tonight.â He later added, âI grew up on these boys right here.â Watch clips below. They played âGo DJ,â âStill Fly,â and more. Wayne even brought out 2 Chainz for âRich as Fuckâ and âNo Problem.â
Here's a fun fact: In the Grammys' 59-year history, only 10 black artists have won Album of the Year. That trend has become especially troublesome as of late, as critically acclaimed masterpieces from Frank Ocean, Kendrick Lamar, and Lil Wayne have lost to the likes of Beck, Taylor Swift, and Mumford and Sons. Twice in the last half decade, Beyoncé was robbed of Album of the Year. In 2015, the Grammys opted for Mr. Hansen's Morning Phase over Queen Bey's trail-blazing self-titled LP. Even more egregious was the scene that unfolded Sunday night when Adele's 25 bested the far superior Lemonade (a decision which Adele herself openly criticized). Lemonade did, however, win the Grammy for âBest Contemporary Urban Album.â Sufjan Stevens was among those who noticed the irony in Beyoncé's participation trophy. âFriendly reminder: don't be racist,â Stevens wrote in a new post to his website, adding: Q: WTF is âUrban Contemporaryâ? St. Vincent's Annie Clark subsequently tweeted Stevens' post with the caption, âWhat Sufjan said.â Frank Ocean, Kanye West, and Drake all boycotted last night's ceremony over a lack of diversity among its nominees. Following Beyoncé's snubbing, Solange tweeted a Tumblr post from Ocean critical of Grammys.
Thirteen people were injured when a truck rammed into Dillinger Escape Plan's tour bus in Poland, the Associated Press reports. A representative for the band has confirmed the report. Warner Bros. taps Cloverfield, Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves to helm new Batman film2/10/2017 Warner Bros. has wasted little time in finding a replacement to direct the next Batman movie. After Ben Affleck scraped plans to helm the film himself, the studio is now targeting Matt Reeves (of Cloverfield and War for the Planet of the Apes fame). According to Variety, Reeves has already committed to directing the film, although a deal has yet to be finalized. He'll work off a script co-written by Affleck and Geoff Johns. Affleck will also star in the film, which is aiming for a 2019 release. |
