Prior to the tragic death of drumming legend Vinnie Paul this past June, his band Hellyeah were set to play the Louder Than Life festival in Louisville, Kentucky, and the Monster Energy Aftershock in Sacramento, California. Now, promoter Danny Wimmer Presents has announced that tributes to Vinnie Paul will take place at both festivals. Each festival will include an all-star Vinnie Paul Tribute which will see the musicians playing songs from Paul's legendary band Pantera, as well as his follow-up band, Damageplan. The performance at Louder Than Life will feature members of Five Finger Death Punch, Godsmack, Hellyeah, Sevendust, Gwar, Bullet for My Valentine, Body Count, Kyng, Cane Hill and more. The Aftershock tribute will feature members of Korn, Deftones, Godsmack, Shinedown, Hellyeah, Sevendust, Gwar, Kyng, Emmure and more. The performances are being curated with the help of Jose Mangin, the “Metal Ambassador” and host at SiriusXM. “Vinnie is an idol turned big time friend, and he left a massive void on this earth,” Mangin said in a statement. “I knew the best way to pay tribute to him would be to throw a Texas-sized jam session belting out Pan-mutha-fukkin-tera songs loud & proud! Everyone involved is doing this because they love Vinnie, and together we can all carry on his name, music and spirit forever!” Paul passed away on June 22nd of this year in Las Vegas, Nevada, at the age of 54. The cause of death, revealed last week, was dilated cardiomyopathy and severe coronary artery disease, both of them heart conditions that were determined to be natural causes. Louder Than Life is scheduled for September 28th-30th at Louisville's Champions Park and will feature performances from Nine Inch Nails, Alice In Chains, Ice Cube, and Limp Bizkit, among others. Monster Energy Aftershock is set for October 13th and 14th at Sacramento's Discovery Park and features System of a Down, Deftones, Slash Ft. Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, Incubus, and At The Drive-In, among other acts.
